FAO Code Monitoring Module: An updated users’ guide to monitoring the implementation of the FAO/WHO International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management

With a broader scope beyond agricultural pesticides, the current version of the FAO Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides gives greater attention to health and environmental aspects, and is more closely aligned with developments in international chemicals management. It puts emphasis on the obligations of governments and the pesticide industry, and calls on a wide range of parties to address pesticide problems. Unfortunately, many governments fail to meet the standards articulated in the Code and the ill effects of pesticides on farmers, their communities and the environment continue. This module provides tools and experience to help concerned organisations in monitoring the responsibilities of stakeholders, particularly governments and the pesticide industry, under the FAO Code of Conduct.
