Health Effects of Pesticides on Former lRRl Worker

The International Rice Research Institute (lRRl) is an agricultural research and training organization based in the Philippines. The Institute has laboratories and training facilities on a 252-hectare experimental farm on the main campus of the University of the Philippines Los Banos. At the institute's main experimental farm, IRRI claimed to have reduced pesticide use by 60 percent. This study attempts to look deeper beneath the claims and the public relations images that were created by lRRl and government pronouncements by going to the lRRl workers themselves and eliciting their experiences and views about the institution.
