Endangered: Small Rice Farmers − The Impact of the Agreement on Agriculture on Small Rice Farmers in Malaysia

Proponents of liberalisation argue that free trade offers opportunities for farmers in developing countries to raise their incomes through exports however farmers in Malaysia are experiencing the opposite. The rice market continues to be dominated by traders, rice millers and exporters, who reap the benefits from rice exports. Under the exploitative rice market system, farmers are still left in the cycle of losses and debts.
