The Impact Of The WTO On Small Rice Farmers


After the WTO’s Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) came to force in 1995, developed countries, particularly the US and the European Union, intensified the dumping of their enormous agricultural surplus to developing countries. This article, published by PAN Asia Pacific (PANAP) during the impasse of the Doha Development Round of the WTO trade-negotiation talks, takes a critical look at AoA, which was among the main concerns that brought the said aforementioned talks to a halt.
